Watch Film w/Speaker Pelosi & Next Stop, Seneca Falls, NY for Feminist History Tree Ring Sculpture May 8 & 9
The Birthplace of Women's Rights for a Weekend Celebration with Right to Run 5k
In the spirit of being part of other people’s amazing events, we can finally share news that’s been in the works since last year: Dendrofemonology: A Feminist History Tree Ring will next be installed in Seneca Falls, NY, the birthplace of women’s rights as part of Right to Run Celebration Weekend—that honors the fight to pass the 19th Amendment! The Mother’s Day weekend celebration is Friday and Saturday, May 8th & 9th. Full agenda and registration below.
I’m honored to be invited to give the keynote to kick it off and screen our updated film We Are Here exploring ideas behind the artwork and documenting the monument’s journey so far from the National Mall in DC, to Madison Square Park in NYC, to 21c Museum in St. Louis, and most recently at di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art in San Francisco, CA with Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
WATCH 9-minute updated film We Are Here with highlights from Speaker Pelosi.
In Seneca Falls, Friday May 8 and Saturday May 9, events include my keynote, a block party, wellness workshops, book signings and more. I have never been to Seneca Falls and I am so excited to touch the ground where the movement for equality started. Registration link is below.
Following the weekend events, Dendrofemonology will be displayed at the National Women’s Hall of Fame Museum in Seneca Falls. This is a beautiful continuation of the journey of the moveable monument to bring local and national leaders together who are working to protect and expand women’s rights.
This is the third update of this film that explores both the creative thinking behind the work and shows highlights from each stop. This film has now played at film festivals in Berlin, Mumbai, Tokyo, Paris, Austin and more.
In an ironic twist that is perhaps not totally surprising, the current administration tried to delay Right To Run’s permit to display Dendrofemonology at the Wesleyan Chapel, site of the 1848 Women’s Rights Convention. We got bipartisan support from Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (R) and Senator Chuck Schumer (D), and the permit came through! See Senator Schumer’s release about it here.
Art is a bridge. Women’s rights are a bridge.

Big gratitude to the formidable team that is organizing this whole weekend event from Right to Run, led by Daniele Bonafiglia who reached out to me last year to make this happen, and Dr. Piraye Yurttas Beim & Dr. Nancy O’Reilly from Women Connect4Good who have supported the moveable monument journey since its first installation on the National Mall in DC in 2023.
