Speaker Pelosi & Feminist History Tree Ring Event Highlights, New Art Reviews + Tix for Thursday w/Whitney Curator & Ken on Art & AI
Afternoon of Feminist Art & Action at di Rosa SF & Premiere of Updated 8 Min Film "We Are Here" Sharing Where We're Headed Next!
What an exhilarating afternoon of feminist art and action at di Rosa SF! Speaker Pelosi was incredibly inspiring and talked about the importance of art—“The arts are what are going to save us”— and how “every women’s success is every women’s success.” All the speakers were so powerful, and a big thank you to di Rosa, our sponsors, Eve’s Ark, & Women Connect4Good, our amazing partners, and the 400+ people who attended and made the magic that happens when you combine art, important conversations, and community!

My experiment with my artwork Gravitas: Participatory Pendulums doing intimate amplified conversations on a swing in front of an audience…worked! (Exhale.) The Swing State “Moving Conversations” officially happened and went great! Will definitely do more of those. I’ll be doing highlights on video soon so you can see it in motion.
Here’s more background about my creative process on making this swing artwork and what led me to turning it into a participatory experience.

New Art Reviews
When you work hard on an art exhibition, reading insightful reviews by writers who get what you set out to do and make new observations you hadn’t thought of, it feels good. Not going to pretend it doesn’t;). Ken and I loved the way Jan Wurm wrote about the art in Roborant here. (We couldn’t believe who she compared us to!) There was also a thoughtful review by Janis Hashe in EBX with some great quotes by curator Twyla Ruby. Tom Teicholz, who wrote one of our favorite reviews of the exhibition for Forbes when it was down in LA for Getty PST ART at the Skirball, has a new review of the expanded exhibition in SF at di Rosa here. Ken and I loved the Tribute to a Tree article by Ellen Newman exploring our participatory tree tributes Acknowledge where we’re asking visitors to submit information on their favorite tree. Those of you who have been to the show, be sure to send us info about your favorite tree, so we can honor it with a tribute at the museum and online. Then lastly, I did an energizing Zoom conversation with the London-based organization TreeSisters that focuses on my feminist history tree ring that you can watch here.

So inspiring to see this gathering come together. Moments like this remind me how powerful it is when art, conversation, and community share the same space. I especially love seeing feminist art reach so many people and spark dialogue across generations. Events like this show how art can carry history forward while also opening new paths for collective action. Here’s to more spaces where creativity, storytelling, and feminist energy continue to ripple outward. 🎨✨ Brava!!
Such a privilege to be part of this conversation on behalf of Red Tent Fund. Thanks for all your convening power, Tiffany!
