Gathering as an Art Form + April 11th Dance Party Exhibition Closing
Breakfast @ Tiffany's Monthly Newsletter March 2026 / published for 30 years
The Human Component of the Ancient Wisdom Exhibition at di Rosa SF
When the world seems out of control, it helps to do what you can to make things better. Ken, Paula Pretlow and I just hosted one of Van Jones & Michael Hebb’s Exodus gatherings that bring together Black leaders, Jewish leaders, and Black-Jewish leaders. It was a powerful evening of conversations about our interwoven history, the current state of our world, and the importance of renewing our alliance.
I pour just as much thought, creativity and energy into the gatherings around the artwork to explore issues I care deeply about, as I do in my art itself. We use the artwork as a starting point to bring people together to talk about our shared and personal histories, and what the future could look like. These conversations bring the ideas in the work to life. This kind of social practice is part of the art for me.
Some other gatherings this past month included “An Afternoon of Feminist Art & Action” with Speaker Pelosi and so many leaders working to protect and expand women’s rights.
Ken and Whitney Museum Curator Christiane Paul’s presentations about “Art, Artifice and AI” from their work on the subject over the last 30 years gave many insights about where we are today with all of these questions around AI. We will be sharing a highlights video from the evening soon.

What would we do without our animals?

Brava!! This is what it looks like when art refuses to stay on the wall and instead builds a table. The intention, the convening, the throughline of care...it all feels deeply alive. Grateful for the reminder that storytelling can be a form of repair!
