Forbes Art Review just published + 20 Lessons read by John Lithgow
Breakfast @ Tiffany’s April Newsletter 2025
Forbes Magazine just published an exciting review of Ken’s and my Getty PST ART exhibit: "...This small exhibition delivered insight, knowledge, new ways of seeing, experiencing, and enhancing the health of our cities.... its works and the ideas animating it are deep, large and expansive." It was so unexpected and beautiful to read. The exhibition just came down in Los Angeles last month at the Skirball and is traveling next to di Rosa’s Center for Contemporary Art’s stunning new San Francisco location in the Minnesota Street Project campus. Ancient Wisdom for a Future Ecology: Trees, Time & Technology opens Jan 20th, 2026.
In other beautiful unexpected news, I was blown away by all the support from all of you on moving my newsletter to Substack! Many of you became founding members (Thank you Mia O. and Kimberly B!) and paid subscribers (including Maya D. John B. Lynn H, Tom W. Annick J, Asher H. Scott F. Destiny K., Sue W., Chris T. and many more!). THANK YOU!!! It tells me how much you value this newsletter. It means so much to me. Warms the cockles of my heart (what’s a cockle?) You also forwarded the whole newsletter, shared parts of it to friends and beyond — and there were so many new subscribers. It was as if my newsletter that had been in a walled garden for 28 years and finally got set free, and sent wildflowers all over the landscape. It was a gorgeous thing to experience on the receiving end and to see the bloom. THANK YOU!
My next Breakfast @ Tiffany’s monthly newsletter will be coming out mid-April with new selections in art exhibitions, music, original series, films, books, and podcasts, and all my favorite spots on my recent trip to Detroit, which I loved. Until then I will leave you with a video of John Lithgow reading 20 Lessons on Tyranny by Tim Synder. I got this short important book On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century when it was first published in 2017. Then my sister-in-law Elena gave as a gift the graphic novel version for every member of the family for Thanksgiving that year. My good friend Selma recommended rereading it right after the recent election. And here it is being read by Lithgow. Let’s just say these lessons need to be deeply imprinted, and at the forefront of our minds.
Today are special elections in Wisconsin, Florida, and Arizona. Please vote if you are in one of those states!
To keeping our democracy strong,
xo, Tiffany
